Chinenye Akaluso

Dr. Akaluso joined Metro in August 2020.  She is currently working towards his board certification from the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Akaluso received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin.  She attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston and completed her anesthesiology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center – Houston.  She is a current member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Texas Medical Association.

In her free time, Dr. Akaluso enjoys hiking and other outdoor activities, strength training and cardio, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Michael Allison

Dr. Allison joined Metro Anesthesia in 1995 and serves on its Marketing Committee.

A graduate of Case Western Reserve University with a bachelor’s in Health Science, he also attended Ohio State University Medical School and completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at Parkland Memorial Hospital. Dr. Allison is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiologists and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists and Dallas County Anesthesia Society, of which he is a past president.

Dr. Allison is active in many community projects and is a major donor in the Human Rights Campaign. He lives in Oak Cliff.

Emilio Andrade

Dr. Andrade joined Metro Anesthesia in 2014.

He received his medical degree from the Universidad Evangelica de El Salvador. Afterwards he did two years of general surgery residency at Yale University. He then completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at Yale University as well. Following his residency, he went to New York City to do a fellowship in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management at the Hospital for Special Surgery, a teaching affiliate of Weill Cornell Medical College. There he gained extensive knowledge in orthopedic anesthesia and pain management that he now uses in all surgical populations. He held an academic position as assistant professor with the Yale University School of Medicine Anesthesia Department before moving to Texas. His main interests are peripheral nerve blocks and ultrasound use in the perioperative setting.

Dr. Andrade is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and is licensed by the medical boards of Texas, Connecticut, and New York. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, European Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Therapy, Texas Society of Anesthesiologist, and Dallas County Medical Society.

During his free time he enjoys traveling, reading about geography and history, tennis, leisure cycling, and spending time with his lovely wife.

Richard Aybar

Dr. Aybar joined Metro Anesthesia in 1993 and currently serves as a member of the Management Committee, Metro Political Action Committee and serves as Chair of both the Credentialing Committee and Scheduling Committee.

A graduate of Meharry Medical College, Dr. Aybar completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at Parkland Memorial Hospital, a division of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical System. Dr. Aybar is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists and Dallas County Anesthesia Society. He has served as the district chairman of the Delegate Nominating Committee for the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists and on the board of Southwest Anesthesia Consultants for eight years.

Dr. Aybar is married with two children. He is actively involved in the Irving Bible Church Men’s Fellowship.

MacArthur L. Baker

Dr. Baker joined Metro Anesthesia in 2010 and currently serves as serves as the Privacy and Security Officer. He is a member of the Compliance Committee, Metro Political Action Committee and Scheduling Committee.

After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Grambling State University, Dr. Baker was selected as one of ten research fellows in the United States to join the NIH Academy affiliated with the National Institutes of Health. He graduated medical school from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Texas at Houston Medical School in the Texas Medical Center where he was selected as “Outstanding Senior Resident”. Practice sites included Memorial Hermann Hospital, LBJ General Hospital, Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, and MD Anderson Cancer Center. After residency, Dr. Baker returned to the Texas Heart Institute and completed a cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship where he gained extensive experience managing critically-ill patients and in intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography.

Dr. Baker is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is licensed by the Texas State Medical Board, a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, the Texas Medical Association, and the Dallas County Medical Society.

He enjoys listening to music, history, geography, watching and playing sports, traveling, attending church, and spending time with his lovely wife, family, and friends.

Amir R. Baluch

Dr. Baluch joined Metro Anesthesia in 2010, and currently serves as a member of the Marketing Committee.

Dr. Baluch has his B.S. in Biochemistry from Trinity University in San Antonio and completed medical school at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock, Texas. He then traveled to Miami for his internship and Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Training sites included Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami Children’s Hospital, Sylvester Cancer Center, Ryder Trauma Center, Jackson South Community Hospital, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami Hospital, and the VA. Dr. Baluch is licensed by both the Florida and Texas Medical Board and is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. During residency he served as a delegate for the American Society of Anesthesiology. He is currently a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Florida Society of Anesthesiology, Texas Society Anesthesiology, and the American Society for Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management.

Dr. Baluch grew up in Texas and is happy to be back amongst old friends and family. He enjoys outdoor activities, weightlifting, personal training, reading, traveling, and entrepreneurship.

Jeremy Bates

Dr. Bates joined Metro in 2016. His hospital affiliations include:

Dr. Bates completed his undergraduate studies at University of Arizona and attended medical school at University of Texas Houston. Drew Boehmer

Dr. Boehmer received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma and attended medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center – TCOM.  He completed his Anesthesiology residency at the Medical University of South Carolina.  He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Texas Medical Association.

In his free time Dr. Boehmer enjoys golfing, hunting, grilling, traveling with his wife and family, watching college football (Boomer Sooner!) and walking his dog Remi.

Lisa Boyer

Dr. Boyer joined Metro Anesthesia in 2009 and currently serves as a member of the Marketing Committee and Compliance Committee.

A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, she received her medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. She completed her internship in internal medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and her residency at the University of Southern California Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Dr. Boyer is licensed by the Texas Medical Board and is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Medical Association and Dallas County Medical Society. Dr. Boyer was raised in Arlington, Texas.

Dr. Boyer is married with two girls. Her interests include cooking, yoga, running and traveling.

Jeffrey Brekke

Dr. Brekke joined Metro in August 2018. He is a board certified anesthesiologist and an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, and Texas Medical Association.

Dr. Brekke received his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin. He attended medical school and completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where he received accolades including resident of the year, outstanding resident for transplant, obstetrics, and anesthesia recovery.

During his time off you can find Dr. Brekke playing tennis, working on cars, or hiking various trails in Denton County.

Marc R. Brown

Dr. Brown is a founding member of Metro Anesthesia and of the Management Committee since its inception. He also currently serves on the Metro Political Action Committee. Dr. Brown was Chairman of the group from 1997 through 2004, was Chief of Anesthesiology at Lake Pointe Medical Center from 1993 to 2007, and has been Chief of Anesthesia at Presbyterian Hospital of Rockwall from 2007 to the present.

After receiving his bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University of Michigan, he completed an Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. During residency, Dr. Brown did a transplant and cardiovascular anesthesia fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center and produced several publications at that time. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Medical Association and Dallas County Anesthesia Society.

Dr. Brown was director of transplant anesthesiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Since joining Metro Anesthesia, he has been very involved in hospital committees, Quality Assurance and Advisory Committees at Baylor University Medical Center; Medical Executive, Quality Assurance, Critical Care and OR Process Improvement Committees, including chief of surgery in 2002, vice chief of staff in 2003-04 and a member of the board of trustees from 2003- 2005 at Lake Pointe Medical Center in Rowlett. He has served in advisory positions at several surgery centers and was vice president and on the board of directors for Southwest Anesthesia Consultants. Dr. Brown has been on the Financial Committee, Medical Executive Committee and both the Board of Governors and Board of Managers at Presbyterian Hospital of Rockwall since its inception in 2007. Dr. Brown is currently the Chief of Anesthesia at Presbyterian Hospital of Rockwall.

Dr. Brown is married and has three children. As a licensed stockbroker, he coordinates several Metro Ventures Investment partnerships in community and hotel developments and is a founding partner in Deep Sushi restaurant in Deep Ellum. He has participated in surgical mission trips to southern Mexico and enjoys fishing, cooking, poker, golf, historical fiction and irreverent humor.

Tiffany Cardini

Dr. Cardini joined Metro Anesthesia in 2017.

Dr. Cardini obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Dallas. She attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed her Residency at the University of Arizona. Dr. Cardini is licensed in the state of Texas and is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. She is currently a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and Texas Society of Anesthesiologists.

She is married to her husband, Chris and they have one daughter. During her free time, she enjoys running, doing yoga, scuba diving, and snow skiing.

Charles P. Cassady

Dr. Cassady joined Metro Anesthesia in 2010.

A graduate of The University of Texas Branch in Galveston, Texas, Dr. Cassady completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at The University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Oklahoma City. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, and American Medical Association.

Dr. Cassady was elected and served as the Chief Resident at his residency program and also served proudly for his country as a United States Marine. In his free time enjoys golf, soccer, snowboarding and activities with his family.

Calvin C. Chan

Dr. Chan joined Metro Anesthesia in 2006, and currently serves as a member on the Peer Review Committee, Marketing Committee, Credentialing Committee and Call Schedule Committee.

A graduate of the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine, Dr. Chan completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas through the University of Texas Houston Health Science Center. Dr. Chan is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and Texas Society of Anesthesiologists.

He is married with two children, enjoys the outdoors, and is an ardent supporter of his alma mater, The University of Texas.

Alin Chang

Dr. Chang joined Metro Anesthesia in 2007 and currently serves as a member of the Peer Reference Committee.

A graduate of Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry, she received her medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center. She completed her Internship in Internal Medicine at New York Hospital Queens/Weill Medical College of Cornell University and her Residency in Anesthesiology at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Chang is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, Dallas County Anesthesia Society and International Anesthesia Research Society. She has presented at several national meetings, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

Dr. Chang is married with two children and in her free time, she enjoys ice skating, golf and interior decorating.

Anthony T.J. Cirone

Dr. Cirone joined Metro Anesthesia in 2013 after completing his Residency at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center and Keck Hospital of USC.

He received his medical degree from USC Keck School of Medicine in 2009. He also attended USC as an undergraduate, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a minor in business. Dr Cirone is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, and he is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

When not taking care of patients, Dr. Cirone spends time his school aged children, and dog Charlie. Over the weekend, he may be found at a farm to table restaurant, a country concert, or at the ballpark. During the winter months, he enjoys hitting the slopes with family and friends. In the summer, you’ll find him next to the grill.

Ryan Cooper

Dr. Cooper joined Metro Anesthesia in 2013 and serves as a member of the Marketing Committee.

Dr. Cooper obtained his undergraduate degree from Southwestern University. He completed medical school at University of Texas Medical School – Houston and went on to complete an Internship in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. He then completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at University of Texas Medical Branch –Galveston. Dr. Cooper is licensed in the state of Texas and is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is currently a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists as well as the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists and the Dallas County Medical Society.

In his free time, Dr. Cooper enjoys running, skiing and hiking as well as spending time with his wife and two sons.

Paul Courtney

Dr. Courtney joined Metro Anesthesia in 2015.

Dr. Courtney obtained his undergraduate degree from The University of Washington. He completed medical school at Saint Louis University and his Residency in Anesthesiology at UTMB – Galveston. Dr. Courtney is licensed in the state of Texas and is currently in the process of becoming board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is currently a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists as well as the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Medical Association.

In his free time, Dr. Courtney enjoys playing basketball, traveling, seeing movies and spending time with friends and family. He is recently engaged and plans to marry his long time love Audrey in 2016. Dr. Courtney was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest but has moved around the country in pursuit of becoming a physician. While he loves Texas, he will forever cheer on his home town teams of the Trailblazers, Seattle Seahawks, and yes, even the Mariners.

Bryan Crowder

Dr. Crowder joined Metro Anesthesia in 2013.

Dr. Crowder is a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2005. At Texas A&M University, Dr. Crowder received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Genetics while being named a distinguished student. Dr. Crowder went on to receive his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was named to the Dean’s List at TCOM. Dr. Crowder completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

As a native of North Texas, Dr. Crowder is very happy to have joined Metropolitan Anesthesia Consultants and practice in his home community. Dr. Crowder is a proud husband and father to two children. He is an active member of the Cross Timbers Community Church in Argyle. He enjoys reading, movies, cooking, handiwork, and playing or watching sports, especially college football.

Dr. Culpepper joined Metro Anesthesia in 2003 and currently serves as a member of the Metro Political Action Committee.

Dr. Culpepper completed medical school as Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine. He then completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at University of Tennessee College of Medicine.

Pranav Deshpande

Dr. Deshpande attended medical school at St. Matthew’s University and completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was awarded Cardiac Anesthesiology Resident of the Year. Training sites included Ryder Trauma Center, Lennar Foundation Medical Center, Miami VA Hospital, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. He continued his training and completed a fellowship in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Medicine at The University of Miami, where he was awarded Fellow of the Year for the Department of Anesthesiology. 

Dr. Deshpande is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, and a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, Dallas County Medical Society, and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.

In his free time, Dr. Deshpande enjoys staying active, watching sports (particularly the Tampa Bay Buccaneers), and spending time with family and friends.

Beverly R. DeVaughn

Dr. DeVaughn joined Metro Anesthesia in 2015.

Dr. DeVaughn attended medical school at the UT Health Science Center at Houston and went on to complete her Residency in Anesthesiology at Parkland Memorial Hospital. Dr. DeVaughn is licensed by the state board of Texas and is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. She is currently a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Medical Association, Dallas County Medical Society and Texas Society of Anesthesiologists.

Dr. DeVaughn has three sons who are all very active in football, track and basketball. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, gardening and traveling.

David Draghinas

Dr. Draghinas joined Metro Anesthesia in 2011 and currently serves as a member of the Credentialing Committee and Metro Political Action Committee.

Dr. Draghinas graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and attended the USC Keck School of Medicine. Upon completing medical school, Dr. Draghinas began his internship at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor, MI. He then completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at the LAC/USC Medical Center.

After completing residency, Dr. Draghinas joined the Naval Medical Center, San Diego as active duty staff where he served as a clinician and anesthesia instructor. He also completed a deployment to Iraq with the Marines before finishing his active duty service. Dr. Draghinas is licensed by the Texas State Medical Board and is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Draghinas enjoys traveling with his wife, reading, and most sports (especially college football).

Stephen R. Ellis

Dr. Ellis joined Metro Anesthesia in 2005 and currently serves as a member of Metro’s Management Committee, Peer Review Committee, Marketing Committee, Quality Assurance Committee, Scheduling Committee, and Security Committee.

A graduate of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, Dr. Ellis completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at Memorial Hermann Hospital, a division of the University of Texas Houston Medical System. Dr. Ellis is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists and Dallas County Anesthesia Society. Dr. Ellis is Chief of Staff at Medical City Lewisville and the Medical Director at Trinity Park Surgery Center.

Dr. Ellis is married with one child.

Dr. Ettinger joined Metro Anesthesia is 2011 and currently serves as a member of the Recruiting Committee and Metro Political Action Committee.

Dr. Ettinger received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Dr. Fleishman joined Metro Anesthesia in 2008, and currently serves as a member on the Compliance Committee. He previously had been in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Fleishman grew up in the Dallas area and is a graduate of The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and is currently board certified in both anesthesiology and internal medicine. Dr. Foster joined Metro Anesthesia in 2013 and serves as a member of the Marketing Committee.

A third generation native Texan, Dr. Foster graduated cum laude from West Texas A&M University in her hometown of Canyon with special honors in biology. She continued her medical education at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Her internship and her Residency in Anesthesiology were completed at The University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita. She is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and has been licensed as a Texas physician since 1993. She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Medical Association, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, and Dallas County Medical Society.

Interests include special needs children and adults where she has done volunteer work as well as served as a board member for Nonpareil, an advanced education institute in technology for people on the autism spectrum. With her husband and two children, she is active in Firewheel Church in Garland and participates in the Engage Hope Here projects in her local community.

Recreational activities include attending her children’s sports and fine arts events, hosting frequent gatherings of friends and family, and traveling. Her family is currently pursuing a goal of visiting all 50 states, for education and enjoyment of our great country.

He has held academic appointments at Harvard Medical School (as an assistant professor), Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and at UT Southwestern. He has also authored numerous scientific publications.

As a “James Scholar,” Dr. Geiser graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at Harvard Medical School, and is fellowship- trained in cardiothoracic anesthesia and critical care medicine from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.

Dr. Geiser is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and credentialed in Transesophageal Echocardiography. Dr. Gibson graduated Magna Cum Laude from West Virginia University with a B.S.in Chemical Engineering. After graduating with a degree in pharmacy from the Westfälische-Wilhelms-Universität, Dr. Hein obtained his medical degree and Ph.D. in medicine from the Freie Universität, Berlin, Germany. He completed anesthesiology residencies both in Germany and at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, TX.

Dr. Hein is board certified in the European Union and by the American Board of Anesthesiology. As an amateur constitutional scholar, Dr. Hein contributed to a collection of the constitutions of the world by discovering in the archives of the Mexican Department of Defense a copy of the long lost draft for the constitution of the Republic of the Rio Grande whose flag was one of the seven flags that flew over Texas (not six as commonly believed). Dr. Hein enjoys exercising for physical fitness, and has annually won the German Sports Medal in Gold 9 times.

Dr. Margolis received a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from Connecticut College and is a graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his anesthesiology residency at Tulane University and served as Chief Resident. Prior to moving to Dallas, he was a member of the clinical faculty of both Tulane University School of Medicine and Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Dr. Margolis had a full-time clinical practice at Touro Infirmary from 1996 through 2005. He has been board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology since 1996 and is an active member in the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiology, Dallas County Anesthesia Society, and Dallas County Medical Society. He serves as the Texas Anesthesiology representative to the Medicare Contractor Advisory Committee. He also serves on hospital committees at multiple facilities.

Happily married for over 25 years, Dr. Margolis has two grown daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys men’s and mixed doubles tennis, enology, fine arts and sports including The New Orleans Saints. Prior to coming to Dallas, he and his family were very involved with in the Jewish community of New Orleans, Touro Infirmary and other philanthropic and charitable organizations. Dr. Varghese Matthews joined Metro Anesthesia in 2017 and serves as the Chief of Anesthesia at Medical Center of McKinney. He also serves on the Clinical Compliance Committee, Standards Committee and the Finance Committee.

Dr. Matthews completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Texas – Austin in Biomedical Engineering. He received his medical degree from Texas A&M Health Science Center. He went on to complete his residency in Clinical Anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine in the prestigious Texas Medical Center. Clinical exposure at Ben Taub General Hospital, Michael E. Dr. Merchun received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and attended medical school at the Indiana University School of Medicine.  He completed an internship in General Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, and residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine.  He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Texas Medical Association, the Dallas County Medical Association, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Miller joined Metro Anesthesia in 2014 and serves on the Recruiting Committee, Marketing Committee and Quality Assurance Committee.

Dr. Miller has his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M. He completed both medical school and his Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Texas- Houston. Dr. Miller is licensed in the state of Texas and is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is currently a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Medical Association, Dallas County Medical Society and Texas Society of Anesthesiologists. Dr. Miller currently serves as Chair of the Quality Committee at Texas General Hospital and Chief of Anesthesia at Texas General Hospital.

Dr. Miller is a proud husband and father. He currently has one daughter and enjoys spending his free time with his family. He thoroughly enjoys playing golf and enjoys other outdoor activities such as running and skiing.

Dr. Morales is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Mullens joined Metro Anesthesia in 2009 and serves as a member of the Marketing Committee.

Dr. Mullens earned his B.S. in Biology from Pepperdine University and graduated from The University of Texas at Houston Medical School. He remained at the The University of Texas at Houston to complete his Residency in Anesthesiology and was elected and served as chief resident during his final year.

Dr. Pace completed his undergraduate studies at Utah State University. He attended medical school at A.T. Still University, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine where he received the Kudelko Award for academic excellence. He later completed his internship and Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Pace speaks fluent Spanish after living in the Dominican Republic for two years while on a mission for his church. He is married and has four children. His hobbies include playing volleyball, softball, and scuba diving.

Dr. Pang attended New York University where he earned a B.A. in Chemistry and Music.  He then attended medical school at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, New York.  Dr. Pang completed an Internal Medicine internship at Westchester Medical Center.  He completed his anesthesia residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York where he was Chief Resident.  During his residency, Dr. Pang presented multiple posters at ASA and ASRA conferences.

Dr. Pang is a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Dallas County Anesthesiology Society.

Dr. Rowley joined Metro Anesthesia in 2007.

After graduating summa cum laude from Mount Saint Mary’s College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry, Dr. Rowley attended New York Medical College in Valhalla. He was then accepted into the Baylor College of Medicine Anesthesiology program in the renowned Texas Medical Center, completing a one year Transitional year at Baylor in Internal Medicine, and then finishing three years of Residency in Anesthesiology. During his residency, Dr. Rowley worked at the Texas Heart Insititue, Texas Children’s Hospital, Ben Taub General Hospital, and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiologists, is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and Texas Society of Anesthesiologists.

Dr. Rowley is married to a cosmetic and medical dermatologist, Dr. Kristel Polder, and has two children. He is an avid golfer, plays guitar and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Shelby Hanson Salmon

Dr. Salmon joined Metro Anesthesia in 2006.

Dr. Salmon completed her Residency in Anesthesiology at Yale New Haven Hospital, and then served as assistant clinical professor on staff at Yale. During this time, she was also the Chairman for the Temple Surgery Center Physician Review Committee.

Dr. Salmon is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists and Dallas County Anesthesia Society. She serves on the Professional Activities Committee at Medical Center of Lewisville, as well. Dr. Salmon is Chief of Anesthesia at Baylor Regional Medical Center at Plano.

A Richardson native, she was pleased to move back home closer to friends and family when she joined Metro Anesthesia Consultants in 2006. She currently serves as a member of the Marketing Committee and Peer Review Committee.

Dr. Saunders joined Metro Anesthesia in 1993 and currently serves as treasurer for the organization. He is the Director of Anesthesiology at Baylor Surgicare at Lewisville.

After attending the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, he completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and affiliated hospitals. He also attended the University of Dallas Graduate School of Management and received an MBA in health services management. Dr. Saunders is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Shu is licensed in the state of Texas and is currently in the process of becoming board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. In his free time, Dr. Shu enjoys listening to music, reading about the latest tech gadgets and is a self-proclaimed movie buff. He is a former assistant professor of anesthesiology at the Kansas University Medical Center and current clinical assistant professor of anesthesiology at the University of Texas Southwest Medical Center. He then traveled to Chicago for his internship and Residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was selected to serve as Chief Resident during his final year. Upon completion of his residency training he returned to UT Southwestern Medical Center for a fellowship in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesiology. Dr. Taneja is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the National Board of Echocardiography. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, and has presented at national meetings.

He is very happy to be back home in Texas and enjoys spending time with his family and friends, reading, and traveling. He and his wife have two daughters.

David D. Toung

Dr. Toung joined Metro Anesthesia in 2011 and serves on the Recruiting Committee, Quality Assurance Committee and Compliance Committee.
 
Dr. Toung graduated summa cum laude from Austin College in Sherman, Texas with Bachelors of Arts in both Spanish with Honors and Biochemistry. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine as a presidential scholar and trained in Houston’s Texas Medical Center at sites including Ben Taub General Hospital, Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Texas Children’s Hospital, Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, and The Methodist Hospital. After staying for an internship in internal medicine, he traveled to Boston to complete his Residency in Anesthesiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, with additional training sites at Children’s Hospital Boston, Faulkner Hospital, Hospital Alemán in Buenos Aires, and South Shore Hospital.

Dr. Toung is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and licensed by the Texas Medical Board. He is an inductee in the Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha honor societies as well as a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, Dallas County Medical Society, and Texas Medical Association.

Born in Dallas to survivors of Cambodia’s Killing Fields, Dr. Toung is very happy to return home to be with family and friends as well as care for the people in the Metroplex. He enjoys volunteering and exploring the food, music, language, and healthcare from all corners of the globe.

J. Calvin Turner III

Dr. Turner joined Metro Anesthesia in 2007, and currently serves as a member of the Marketing Committee and serves as Chair on the Metro Political Action Committee.

A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s in biology, Dr. Turner attended Texas Tech School of Medicine for his medical school training. He completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Turner is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Turner is married with two children and enjoys UT sports, running, computers and is an amateur DJ.

Jenni Underhill

Dr. Underhill joined Metro in 2019.  She is a member of the.

Dr. Underhill received her undergraduate degree from the Loma Linda University.  She attended medical school and completed her residency at Loma Linda University School of Medicine.  She is a current member of the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Board of Anesthesiologists.

In her free time, Dr. Underhill enjoys working out, gardening/landscaping, travel, baking, and is a proud mom to 2 college-age children.

Melissa Villegas

Dr. Villegas joined Metro Anesthesia in 2016.

Dr. Villegas obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Saint Thomas. She attended medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth and completed her Residency at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center. Dr. Villegas is licensed in the state of Texas and is currently in the process of being board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. She is currently a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Medical Association, Dallas County Medical Society, and Texas Society of Anesthesiologists.

Dr. Villegas is a proud wife and mother. She enjoys spending time with her family and enjoys outdoor activities in her free time.

Michael L. Wanamaker

A graduate of electrical engineering from the University of South Florida, Dr. Wanamaker attended the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where he earned his Medical degree. Dr. Wanamaker completed his internship as an orthopedic surgery resident at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan before changing specialties and returning to Galveston to complete his Residency in Anesthesiology. Training sites included John Sealy Hospital, Driscoll Childrens Hospital, Texas Heart Institute, The Methodist Hospital, and the Shriners Burn Institute.

Dr. Wanamaker is licensed by the Texas Medical Board and is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Dallas County Anesthesia Society.

Dr. Wanamaker enjoys spending time with his family, lake surfing, sports photography, traveling, and outdoors activities.

Brittani Hale Wattiker

Dr. Hale joined Metro Anesthesia in 2015 and serves as a member of the Marketing Committee.

Dr. Hale graduated Summa cum laude from Vanderbilt where she received her B.A. in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine and graduated with honors. She was also a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society during her time at Baylor. Dr. Hale went on to complete her Residency in Anesthesiology at Duke University.

Dr. Hale is licensed in both the state Texas and North Carolina and board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. She is currently a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Texas Medical Association, Dallas County Medical Society and the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists.

Being a Dallas native, Dr. Hale is very excited to be back in Dallas and enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends. She also enjoys traveling and outdoor activities.

Robert L. Weaver, Jr

Dr. Weaver joined Metro in August 2020. 

Dr. Weaver received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington – Seattle and attended medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine – Seattle.  He completed his Anesthesiology residency at the University of Texas at Houston McGovern Medical School.  He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists.

In his free time Dr. Weaver enjoys golfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding, playing football and other team sports, and spending time with his family and friends.

Mary West

Dr. West joined Metro in October 2019.  She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Board of Anesthesiologists.

Dr. West received her undergraduate degree from the University Dallas.  She attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and completed her anesthesia residency and fellowship at the Yale University School of Medicine.  She is a current member of the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.

In her free time, Dr. West enjoys playing violin in a community orchestra, cooking, running after her 4 kids, and reading.

Dawn Yan

Dr. Yan joined Metro Anesthesia in 2011 and serves on the Marketing Committee and Peer Review Committee.

Dr. Yan graduated from the University of Kansas with a BA in human biology, and went on to attend the University of Kansas School of Medicine where she was awarded the Janet M. Glasgow-Rubin Achievement and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed a surgery internship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and a Residency in Anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following her training, Dr. Yan did a fellowship in regional anesthesia at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC where she learned to specialize in peripheral nerve blocks and catheters, as well as spinals/epidurals, for orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Yan is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and licensed by the Texas Medical Board. She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Medical Association, and Dallas County Medical Society.

In her free time, Dr. Yan enjoys traveling, scuba diving, snowboarding, volunteering for international missions, attending music festivals, and spending time with friends and family.

Neil Yang

Dr. Yang attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch.  He completed his Anesthesiology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch, as well.  He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Texas Medical Association.

In his free time Dr. Yang enjoys playing bass guitar, listening to jazz music, playing tennis, discovering new sushi restaurants, and traveling with his family.  He is also a computer and technology hobbyist.

Jonathan Yuska

Dr. Yuska attended medical school at Kansas City University and completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Iowa.  He received a Master’s degree in Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Iowa.  He is a current member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

In his free time, Dr. Yuska enjoys playing tennis, running, baking elaborate desserts, and trying out new recipes.

Shan Zhang

Dr. Zhang became a part of Metro Anesthesia when Denton Anesthesiology Associates joined the practice in 2013.

Dr. Zhang completed her internship in Deaconess Central Hospital, St. Louis University, Missouri. She went on to complete her residency in anesthesiology at Barnes-Jewish Children’s Hospital, Washington University, St. Louis, MO in 2002. Dr. Zhang currently serves as Chief of Anesthesia at Texas Health Surgery Center Denton.

Dr. Zhang is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology. She is also a member of American Society of Anesthesiologists, Texas Society of Anesthesiologists and Denton Medical Society.
 

Dr. Zhang and her husband enjoy golfing and traveling.
